Mosque Update
The Salahadeen Center of Virginia acquired a 2.17-acre property at 42 Baxter Dr, Harrisonburg, Virginia, in March 2022 for $325,000. This center will be managed by dedicated volunteers from our local Muslim community, in accordance with our bylaws. As we move forward, our goal is to raise $800,000 to begin the first phase of the mosque construction.

Mosque Details
The new mosque building project is making steady and significant progress, having successfully reached several key milestones. The journey began in March 2021, with the acquisition of land for the new mosque. This foundational step was followed by the project board's approval in March 2022, allowing the planning phase to move forward. In March 2023, a comprehensive survey and geotechnical study of the site were completed, confirming the land’s suitability for construction and providing valuable insights that will guide the development process.
By March 2024, the architectural plans for the mosque were finalized, marking a crucial milestone. These finalized designs now serve as the blueprint for the next phases of the project. Currently, the project team is focused on finalizing the site plan and working on the structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) components, ensuring the building meets all technical specifications and safety standards. The approval process with the city is underway, with expected approvals anticipated between December 2024 and January 2025.
Construction is projected to begin in May 2025, pending final approvals. Once construction commences, the team will proceed with activities such as installing interior utilities, landscaping, and developing parking facilities. The final stages will focus on the interior decoration, ensuring the mosque is both functional and aesthetically welcoming. A grand opening will be planned to celebrate the completion of this significant community project, marking the start of a new chapter for the mosque and the local community.
